Appending "Engineer" to every marketing title isn't a strategy, it's a shortcut that sidesteps the harder question. Deep craft expertise is what makes AI useful in marketing; without it, you're just automating mediocrity. The answer isn't a generalist in the middle who touches everything lightly. It's functional experts, i.e. content, brand, PMM, paid, etc., developing genuine technical fluency while a marketing technologist acts as internal consultant. That's what this quadrant maps.
